Close, but not close enough - that was the story of Ghana’s Joselle Mensah, in the final of the women’s 50m freestyle on Wednesday.
Mensah was hoping to add on to Ghana’s two medals in swimming, but narrowly missed out, beaten to bronze by Zambia’s Mia Phiri.
The 20 year old finished 4th with a time of 26.52 seconds.
Egypt’s starlet, Farida Osman breezed to take gold, ahead of South Africa’s Caitlin De Lange and Mia Phiri, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Mensah’s teammate, Unilez Takyi, finished 7th with a time of 26.66 seconds.
