Head of Public Events and Communications for Charter House, Robert Klah, has refuted claims by musician Sista Afia that the Ghana Music Awards scheme has intentionally been snubbing her.
Robert Klah wants Sista Afia to reach out if she believes she has been unfairly treated.
This comes after Sister Efia shared her disappointment in the organisers of the awards scheme, suggesting they had downplayed her efforts ever since she started making music.
She said this because she had not been nominated for a single category for the Ghana Music Awards, GMA, for some years now.
Taking to herX page, she lamented how her song, Asuoden, was big in 2021, and yet it was not nominated for any category.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty on Monday, Mr Klah explained that Sista Afia can reach out to him if he feels unfairly treated, adding that the Ghana Music Awards have no issues with her because he recalled she was nominated for the 21st and 22nd editions of the awards.
“She had nominations in the 21st and even the 22nd editions of the awards.
“Sista Afia, if you feel you are not too sure about what is going on you can always have a conversation with me. I can't say you’ve stepped on anybody’s toes,” he said on Hitz FM.
He added that there is a research team assigned to assess songs and place them into the befitting categories.
“It is not entirely true, what happens is that you file for nominations and our research team, will gather information about songs that need to be in the various categories,” he said.
Sista Afia, born Fransisca Gawugah, is popularly known for her hit songs including Asuoden, Corner Corner, and Jeje among others.
Her most recent recognition was last year when she won the Best Female Artiste of the Year at the 2023 Ghana Entertainment Awards USA (GEA USA).
