The New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has launched a campaign urging Ghanaians to reject John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Dr. Bawumia expressed concerns that if elected, Mr. Mahama might not adequately address the issues facing Ghanaians, citing the limitation of serving for only one term.
He emphasised that this restriction might hinder Mr. Mahama's ability to deliver on his promises and effectively respond to the needs of the populace.
In contrast, Dr. Bawumia positioned himself as the best candidate to lead Ghana towards development and ensure accountability in governance.
The Vice President pledged to prioritise the country's advancement and be accountable for his actions.
Highlighting the importance of voter awareness, Dr. Bawumia cautioned citizens against voting for Mr Mahama, warning that doing so could result in unaddressed challenges and missed opportunities for progress.
He urged Ghanaians to consider the implications of their choices and opt for leadership that prioritises their interests and concerns.
“For me, because I am looking for an 8-year term, I have to work very hard in the first four years so that when I come back, you will say, oh yes, you did what you said you were going to do. We will give you another four years."
“But for my main opponent [John Dramani Mahama], when you give him four years, that is it. He doesn’t have to come back again. You won’t see him again, especially after he takes his honeymoon, you will not see him after four years."
“So you will get more accountability from me than from him.”
