Ghana closed out day 1 of the CAA regional championships at the university of Ghana stadium with five gold medals.
Esther Obenewaa stared in the women’s high jump securing gold in the process.
There was more gold for Ghana however from an unlikely source with Faustina Owusu dominating the women’s Discus to clinch victory.
On the track, sprinter, Edwin Gadayi, clocked a time of 10.07 seconds, surpassing Nigeria’s Israel Oko and Mali’s Sissoko Fode to finish first in the men’s 100m final.
The time, however, will not be enough to qualify him to the Olympics, as the automatic qualification time stands at 10.00 seconds.
His compatriot, Sarfo Ansah, just missed out on the podium, finishing 4th in the same race.
Abdul wahab added another gold medal for Ghana winning the men’s 400m final.
Hor Halutie managed a top three finish in the women’s 100m final, winning bronze, before helping Ghana to claim gold in the final of the women’s 4x100m race.
African Games High Jump champion, Cadman Evans Yeboah, headlines Day 2 of the CAA Region II Championships, when he competes in the men’s High Jump final.
