The Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs at Zoomlion Ghana, Emma Osei-Duah, has urged Ghanaians to be intentional about proper waste management.
She emphasised the importance of maintaining a clean environment and called for proactive measures from individuals.
Speaking to JoyNews in commemoration of World Environment Day, Ms Osei-Duah highlighted the significance of using separate bins for plastics and other types of waste.
She stated that this practice is a crucial step towards reducing plastic pollution.
“Take the initiative to own your waste management by getting a receptacle and intentionally managing your waste appropriately by putting your waste that you generate into the receptacle.
“Try and get two receptacles, put your plastics in one and all others in one. That is a huge leap from where we have come but by doing that, you add value to the plastics and there a people who will buy,” she said.
Additionally, she noted that collecting plastic waste can provide an opportunity to earn some income when sold.
“By doing that, you add value to the plastics and there are people who buy. If you contact Zoomlion, we'll get you a sister company to purchase your plastics.
“Getting this and getting some stipends from that sale, you can replace your plastic, you can replace your water sachet with that small money that you get,” she added.
