TSGDrive, in collaboration with the KASA Initiative, Censafrica and the Applied Technology Institute, held its annual 'Mechanic Go Green' initiative to promote sustainable practices within the automotive industry.

This landmark event which is in its second year, held in the vibrant La Bawleshi within the East Legon area, aimed to educate and sensitize auto mechanics, automotive professionals, and selected students from the Applied Technology Institute, a subsidiary of TVET, on the importance of managing waste from vehicle repair and maintenance.

The event in celebration of World Environment Day, began with an inspiring address by Emmanuella Osei, the Business Development Lead for TSGDrive.

She underscored the critical role of the automotive industry in environmental conservation, emphasizing the need for responsible waste management.

"Every drop of oil, every used tyre, and every discarded part impacts our environment. It's time we take responsibility and make a change," she stated.

Representatives from the KASA Initiative and Censafrica provided a compelling presentation on the environmental hazards posed by improper waste disposal in the automotive sector.

They highlighted alarming statistics and real-world examples of pollution, driving home the urgent need for sustainable practices.

The educational workshop led by experts from the Applied Technology Institute was the event's focal point.

Through interactive sessions and hands-on demonstrations, participants learned practical techniques for effective waste management.

Topics included the proper disposal of hazardous materials, recycling of automotive parts, and the use of eco-friendly products in vehicle maintenance.

The workshop was met with enthusiastic participation, as attendees engaged in discussions and sought advice on implementing these practices.

In a significant gesture towards supporting the local community, TSGDrive donated two waste bins to the La Bawleshi Mechanic Association.

These bins, intended for segregating hazardous and non-hazardous waste, will enable mechanics to manage their waste more effectively.

The donation was received by the Chairman of the Mechanics Association Mr Paul Kusi with great appreciation, symbolising a step towards a greener La Bawleshi.
