Former Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan are still top of Group B of the 2026 African FIFA World Cup qualifiers after beating South Sudan 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Juba.
Sudan is yet to lose a game in the qualifiers, picking three wins and one draw which leaves them with ten points.
That is two ahead of Senegal who sit second in the group with eight points. This is tremendous considering there is no competitive league ongoing in Sudan because the country is currently war-torn.
The Falcons of Jediane are not even playing their home games in Sudan because of the war but are still finding ways to grind out victories.
In Tuesday’s game, Sudan took the lead in the third minute of first half added time through Waliedin Khidir following an assist from Abdelrazig Omer.
Yasi Mozamil then doubled their advantage six minutes after the break before star player Mohamed Abdelrahman wrapped up the scoring in the 78th minute.
