President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed new boards for the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) along with three other state media outlets: the Graphic Communications Group Limited, the Ghana News Agency, and the New Times Corporation.
This action is part of a broader initiative to refresh leadership at major media institutions in Ghana.
The appointments were carried out in line with Article 168 of the Constitution and Section 2(1)(e) of the National Media Commission Act, 1993 (Act 449).
These legal provisions ensure that such appointments are made following established procedures and adherence to constitutional requirements.
Each state media organisation — GBC, Graphic Communications Group Limited, Ghana News Agency, and New Times Corporation — plays a vital role in delivering information and news throughout the country.
The introduction of new boards is aimed at infusing fresh perspectives and leadership into these institutions.
The new appointments are expected to enhance the effectiveness and operations of these media outlets, ensuring they continue to serve the public with improved efficiency and impact.
