The 2024 Flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over what he terms their persistent pessimism towards ambitious initiatives proposed by his party.
Speaking after a health walk in Akuapem in the Eastern Region, Dr Bawumia emphasised the importance of determination and faith in achieving developmental goals.
“As for NDC, whenever you want to do something, they will discourage you and claim that our ambitious initiative is impossible. They are pessimistic about everything. Everything we try to do, they say it is impossible,” he stated.
He underscored his belief in the power of determination and divine support in overcoming challenges.
“But for me, I know that with God, it is possible! There is nothing under this sun that when you are determined and you work at it you won’t succeed. So yes, we can. Yes, it is possible," he asserted.
Dr Bawumia cited the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme as a testament to the NPP’s ability to achieve what critics deemed impossible.
"When we said, we would implement Free SHS, NDC claimed it was impossible, but with all their pessimism didn’t we do it?" he quizzed, highlighting the NPP's track record of delivering on its promises despite opposition.
The NDC and NPP are all out on the road campaigning to garner votes in the 2024 elections. Dr Bawumia’s speech therefore aimed to rally support and instill confidence in the party's vision for Ghana's future.
The health walk in Akuapem, which drew a significant number of participants, served as a platform for Dr Bawumia to connect with the community and reinforce the NPP's commitment to advancing Ghana's development through ambitious and innovative initiatives.
