Ghanaian forwards Inaki Williams and Joseph Paintsil have been named in the Black Stars squad ahead of the team’s first two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scheduled for September.
Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams missed the team’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June against Mali and the Central African Republic due to a foot injury. However, following a successful surgery, he has recovered and has since featured for Athletic Bilbao in La Liga matches against Getafe, Barcelona, and Valencia.
LA Galaxy winger Joseph Paintsil also returns to the squad after missing the World Cup qualifiers in June due to an injury. Paintsil has been in exceptional form in Major League Soccer, registering 8 goals and 7 assists in 22 appearances for his club.
The duo are expected to bolster the Black Stars' attack as the team looks to build on their back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic in June.
The Black Stars will begin their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign in Group F against Angola on 5th September at the Baba Yara Stadium, before travelling to Niger for their second game on 9th September, 2024.
