The Chief of Wamanafuo-Sabikrom in the Dormaa East District of the Bono Region, Nana Sabi Ababio, has called on former President John Mahama to prioritise youth employment if elected in the December 7 general elections.
According to Nana Sabi Ababio, the youth of Wamanafuo are in desperate need of jobs, and since they are showing their support for him, he should ensure they are provided with employment opportunities when he becomes president.
Speaking at a mini durbar at Wamanafuo Ahyiayem on Tuesday, September 10, Nana Sabi Ababio stressed that youth employment should not be conditioned on the provision of certificates.
He pointed out that no one is asking for a certificate in exchange for their votes, so the same principle should apply when it comes to job opportunities.
“Since he has visited this district and we see how things are progressing, if by God’s grace, he is elected into power, we, the people of Wamanafuo and the youth want jobs. As we support him to become president, when the time comes for the youth to be employed, that is when they will say go and bring your certificate.
“His Excellency, when it happens like that, it would really disturb us. No one is asking for a certificate to vote for you to become president, so when the time comes to provide employment for them, and they are asked to bring their certificates, it will be a burden on us," he said.
He urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer to heed their call and ensure that the youth gain employment to support their families without unnecessary obstacles.
