For three impactful weeks, the Awaken to the North Mission team embarked on a transformative journey through the Northern Region, bringing hope, faith, and tangible support to communities in the Jamboai District.
Led by Catechist Silas Aristotle Tagoe, the team organized a series of events that not only spread the message of God but also provided practical assistance to the people they encountered.

One of the cornerstone activities was the evangelism consultation workshops held for selected Presbyterian churches in the Jamboai District. These workshops were unique in their approach, blending theoretical teachings with hands-on practical sessions. Church members, alongside the Awaken to the North mission team, engaged in house-to-house evangelism, visiting various households in the villages.

This direct approach not only strengthened the faith of church members but also won many souls for God.
The mission’s efforts extended beyond evangelism to the establishment of new churches in five villages—Adeɛmbra, Gayikope, Ugando, Kumonisi, and Legee—which previously had no place of worship. Thanks to the Awaken to the North team, these communities now have their own churches, serving as beacons of hope and centers for spiritual growth.

In addition to evangelism and church planting, the mission conducted Reach for Life training sessions, equipping participants with essential life skills and spiritual guidance. Dawn broadcasting sessions were also held to inspire early risers with motivational messages, and large-scale crusades brought together people from various communities to celebrate their faith and receive spiritual nourishment.
The highlight of the mission was undoubtedly the Jesus Shop, an event held in almost all the communities within the Jamboai District. This initiative donated clothing items to community members in need. More than just a distribution event, the Jesus Shop became a celebration of generosity and compassion.

Community members who received the clothing expressed profound gratitude. One recipient, Lizzy, shared, “This dress means so much to me. It’s not just clothing; it’s a symbol of love and care from people who don’t even know me. It makes me feel valued and respected.”
Another beneficiary, Bernard, mentioned, “I’ve never had a new dress before, and because I don’t have clothes for church, I didn’t attend. This is a blessing for me and my family. We are truly grateful.”

The Jesus Shop touched many lives, providing not only physical warmth but also emotional and spiritual upliftment. The smiles and tears of joy from the recipients were a testament to the profound impact of this initiative.
The Inspiration Behind Awaken to the North
Catechist Silas Aristotle Tagoe, the coordinator of Awaken to the North Mission, shared the inspiration behind the event, rooted in the mission’s motto: “That all may hear His voice,” and its mission statement: “To equip and train Christians to make disciples.”
On the team’s first encounter in the Northern Region, during a crusade in Fumbisi, a young lady from the Junior Youth group danced with such passion that it deeply moved Catechist Tagoe. Compelled by her fervor, he gifted her 10 cedis.

The next morning, around 5 a.m., Brother Silas was awakened by his team, who informed him that the parents of the young lady were at the door. Her father revealed that the 10 cedis had solved a problem they had been facing for two weeks. "This revelation touched me profoundly, and I bowed my head in tears," Brother Silas recounted. He expressed his amazement at how such a small amount could make such a significant difference, prompting him to reflect on his own life in Accra.
Moved by this experience, Brother Silas sent his 500 cedi Christmas bonus to the District Minister to be shared among the four catechists in the district. This moment of reflection marked a turning point, inspiring him to commit to an annual mission to the north to spread the word of God and provide basic amenities to the people.
Over the past six years, the mission has successfully planted four churches in the Fumbisi district—Gbedema, Butriesa, Uwasa—and one in the Wa district in Tumu.

A Divine Calling for the Northern Region
This year, Brother Silas felt a divine calling to bring the mission to the Northern Region, specifically the Jamboai district, focusing on Lonto. "Last year, the mission was held in Savlugu, and this year, our focus is on Lonto," he shared.
Brother Silas also appealed to individuals and philanthropists for support in continuing the mission’s work and bringing change to the Northern Region.
For the past seven years, the Awaken to the North mission has been dedicated to touching lives and winning souls for God. Their consistent efforts have brought about significant changes in the communities they serve. From planting churches to providing essential training and support, the mission has left an indelible mark on the Northern Region.
The Awaken to the North Mission continues to inspire and uplift, demonstrating the power of faith, compassion, and community. Their journey is a testament to what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose of making the world a better place.
