University of Ghana student, David Nakousi, came out as winner of the 2024 First National Bank Accra Marathon.
Nakousi was first to cross the finish line at the Dansoman Keep Fit Club in the Male's Junior 15km marathon race event which commenced at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
The level 100 student displayed athleticism and determination to claim the 8,000 cedis top prize with a time of 48:24:03 seconds.
In a post-race interview with Joy Sports, Nakousi expressed his excitement for coming in first in the 31st edition of the marathon.
“I’m very proud and I am very glad to have won this race. This is my first time running this race so it feels amazing to win this race,” he said.

“It’s not easy for me to combine academics and athletics together. I’ve developed a strong time for my academics and I’m managing well.”
Emmanuel Kwarteng (48:56:03), who came second behind Nakousi following a long battle between the two athletes, promised to win the title next year.
“I want them to expect me to be the best. I will be the best next year. I want them to be the first,” he told Joy Sports.
Chairman of the Dansoman Keep Fit Club, Mr Benjamin Ahulu, said “Next year, we are back with a bang. We will collaborate with our title sponsors and all our other sponsors.”
“We are bringing back the 42.2km next year and we are going to hold it in the same October as we have done this year.
“What we are trying to do is to elevate it to international standard next year and we are collaborating with the Ghana Athletics.”
In the corporate 5km run, Ghana Education Service’s Ali Mohammed came first while Edward Vondee from Godis Kitchen came second.
