The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) John Mahama has condemned the shooting incident that occurred in Mamobi, a suburb in Accra.
The shooting occurred during violent clashes between National Democratic Congress 9NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters on Sunday.
He was speaking in an interaction with the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs as part of his campaign tour.
The meeting was used to discuss both national and local issues in addition to how to ensure the safety of Ghanaians moving into the December elections.
Mr Mahama said that a health walk should not result into a fatal or injury clash, where people will be wielding guns and shooting at each other.
He blamed the development on similar unresolved incidents such as the Ayawaso West Wuogon which he says had emboldened people.
ohn Mahama urged that the moral voices of society must speak against these attacks and demand actions against perpetrators.
The NDC’s leader says, he feels helpless about the situation as reports from commissions of inquiries into similar situations have been dumped into the dustbin.
A keep-fit walk, which both parties usually organise every weekend as part of their campaign activities, ended abruptly when a group of motorbike riders from one side encountered the supporters from the other side.
Eyewitnesses reported that, a verbal altercation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Nine people were injured as a result of the incident with one suspect arrested by the Police.
