Appolonia City marked this year’s International Day of the Girl Child together with female students from Appolonia Kpong Katamanso District Assembly (KKMA) Junior High School.
Appolonia City was represented by a high-level delegation of professional women with experience in various fields ranging from engineering, surveying, customer services, sales, telemarketing, and administration.
The event began with an empowering career counselling session where women from Appolonia City shared their journeys, including how they overcame challenges and seized opportunities.
Shiela Adjei, City Services Coordinator for Appolonia City encouraged the girls to take their education very seriously.
“When a woman is educated, she ensures that all children become educated”, she said.
“That is why you all need to take your education seriously because the fate of the education of the next generation lies in your hands”.
The session was followed by a conversation on menstrual hygiene and body positivity.
The delegation emphasised self-care and confidence, sharing practical tips on hygiene and encouraging the students to embrace what they are made of.
Appolonia City ended the day with a donation of sanitary pads and learning aids to the students. Speaking to the school’s leadership, Yaw Acheampong Adjei, Marketing and Communications Manager for Appolonia City pledged that Appolonia City would supply sanitary pads monthly to all the girls in the school.
By day's end, participants departed with hearts of gratitude and inspired hope. We hope the celebration will become a cherished memory, inspiring these young girls to always stay focused and empowering them to embrace their journeys ahead.
