Frederick Aniagyei, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Tema Central constituency, has called on the electorates to emancipate themselves from all political slavery.
Mr Aniagyei, who calls himself “Kakai for change,” said Ghanaians had voted for political parties all these years with nothing good to show for their loyalties.
He said this during a parliamentary candidates’ dialogue organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with Plan B FM, and supported by the Cocoa Processing Company Limited.
The dialogue was on the theme “Together We Can Build Ghana, So Get Involved.”
Singing the legendary Bob Marley’s redemption song, he questioned what Ghanaians and the residents of Tema Central have gained from the political parties they have been voting for.
“The country is financially tough; what are we doing to help the constituency? We have been stuck with political parties leading to corruption in all sectors of the economy, and this is worrying,” he said.
He further questioned, “Who do the political parties account for our monies? The taxes are so much that when you give money to businesses, they cannot survive. Political parties are always making promises.”
The independent candidate stressed that “political parties use a lot of money to buy people to vote for them. By doing so, we sell our destiny to them, and they leave you after the elections.”
Sharing his vision with the electorates, he stated that he would use his office when elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema Central to develop and expand the elementary schools in the area.
He noted that he would organise evening classes for school dropouts to catch up from where they left off, further stating that his priority would be to promote vocational education among the constituents.
“Look at Community Eight number three and number two schools; they have vast lands that can have full education from kindergarten to secondary. I will promote such initiatives,” he said.
