The National Youth Organiser of the NDC, George Opare Addo, has accused the president of attempting to frustrate the ongoing 24-Hour Economy Park, organised by the NDC Youth Wing.
The event which was scheduled to take place at the Accra Mall on Sunday, was later moved to the Legon City Mall, with less than 24 hours to the start of the programme.
According to Opare Addo, the venue change was in response to a deliberate orchestration by government to frustrate the programme.
Launching the event on Sunday, December 1 he explained that the Youth Wing had made initial arrangements to use the Accra Mall park, only for his outfit to receive last-minute disapproval.
This, he said, was nothing but a deliberate move to kill the resolve of the NDC Youth Wing in selling the 24-Hour Economy Plan.
"This programme was supposed to have happened at the Accra Mall Park. [But] just yesterday, Akufo-Addo and his people decided to frustrate us," Opare Addo said.
He continued, "Around 1 pm late afternoon, we received a letter from the Municipal Assembly in charge of the park, telling us that tomorrow the president will be having a programme at that park".
Mr Opare Addo added that having stayed in the vicinity for years, he had never seen a presidential event at the Accra Mall Park and thus he's convinced the call from the Municipal Assembly was ill-motivated.
The NDC youth leader, however, launched the 24-Hour Economy Park at the Legon City Mall and called on all young people to vote against the NPP in the upcoming general election.
Bemoaning the bad state of affairs under the NPP, he noted that the high rate of unemployment and the junk status of Ghana's economy are reasons the NPP should be kicked out.
"This election is about the future of the many young people who're gathered here, and the many who're not here with us. This election is about resetting Ghana and building the Ghana you and I would be proud of", he stressed.
Meanwhile, the 24-Hour Economy Park, which started on Sunday, December 1, will end on Tuesday 3rd December 2024.
The event, which is a simulation of the 24 Hour Economy has over 30 vendors and service providers selling throughout the period; amidst other side attractions and engagements on the 24 Hour Economy and other policies of the NDC.
Last night, music acts such as Fameye, Oseikrom Sikani and 'echoke' hitmaker, Sefa, were present to thrill the audience to hours of music and dancing.
