The Upper West Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu has expressed confidence in the potential impact of the newly commissioned Wa Youth Resource Centre, emphasizing its role in equipping the youth “with tools and resources they need to succeed.”
The commissioning ceremony, held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, marked the official outdooring of the second of 10 Youth Resource Centres under construction.
The centre is designed to serve as both a recreational hub and a talent development platform, addressing key challenges faced by the region’s youth.
Speaking at the commissioning, Yakubu emphasised how important it is to have the facility situated in the region.
"The Upper West Region has a rich reservoir of talented and enterprising young people; however, challenges such as unemployment, limited access to education, and inadequate skills and development opportunities often hinder their progress," he said.
"This centre [Wa Youth Resource Centre] offers a platform to bridge these gaps by equipping our youths with the tools and resources they need to succeed."
The Wa Youth Resource Centre is expected to play a pivotal role in nurturing local talent while fostering socio-economic growth in the region.
