The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for a group of individuals who reportedly attacked a private collation centre belonging to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Okaikwei North Constituency in Akweteyman, Accra.
The attackers reportedly caused extensive damage to collation materials and injured one person during the assault.
In a statement, the police noted that investigations aided by a victim, have led to the identification of two suspects—Ryan Gbagbathi and Huzaif—as members of the group involved in the incident.
The police reassured the public of their ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects and ensure they face the full weight of the law.
“We urge the public to remain calm as Police efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects to face the full rigours of the law,” the statement said.
The police reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding peace and security during and after the elections.
