The Africa Development Council (ADC) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, following his historic victory in the 2024 general elections.
The ADC described the win as an overwhelming endorsement by Ghanaians, signalling their trust in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to lead the nation into a transformative era.
In a statement issued by its Secretariat in Accra, the ADC led by Ing. Dr. Bright Atsu Sogbey emphasised that the election results reflect the people's desire for a reset, with hopes for an administration that prioritizes industrial development and economic revitalization
Commitment to Technical Support
The ADC reaffirmed its readiness to provide technical expertise to support Ghana's development agenda. The organisation emphasised the importance of leveraging a state-led industrial economy to finance development through production rather than relying heavily on taxes and levies.
“By ensuring meritocratic appointments within key state institutions, we can foster the growth of state-owned enterprises, enabling them to become profitable drivers of economic transformation,” the statement noted.
The 24-Hour Economy Policy
Highlighting the significance of a state-led industrial economy, the ADC urged the incoming administration to prioritise the foundation for a 24-hour economy. This initiative aims to maximise productivity across all sectors and create opportunities for sustainable growth during Mahama's presidency.
Looking Ahead
The Council expressed confidence in President-elect Mahama’s leadership and reiterated its commitment to collaborate with his administration to achieve Ghana’s developmental aspirations.
“Once again, congratulations on this historic victory. We look forward to seeing the National Democratic Congress deliver on its promises to the Ghanaian people,” the statement concluded.
