The National Sports Authority (NSA) has opened invitations for tenders to recondition football pitches to meet FIFA standards, as part of its commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in Ghana.

The move is to maintain playing surfaces in optimal condition, "reducing injury risks and improving sporting performance during active and off-seasons," portion of statement on its website said.

The NSA stated that the project would be funded through its budgetary allocation, with a focus on creating a pitch that adheres to international standards.

"This initiative is crucial for maintaining the quality of football in Ghana and ensuring our players train and compete on world-class surfaces," the statement added.

It would be recalled that the CAF banned Ghana from using the Baba Yara Stadium and requested a total reconstruction of the playing surfaces of all national stadia in the country.

The continent's football governing body, however, rescinded its decision, allowing the Black Stars to play the rest of its AFCON 2025 qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The NSA also close down all its facilities and in partnership with the Ghana FA, brought down a Dutch-based company to assess the state of the playing surfaces and they advised that the pitches should be reworked on.

Hence, the NSA has decided to recondition the pitches and has asked interested organisations to go through a procurement process which will be conducted under Ghana's National Competitive Tendering procedures, as stipulated by the Public Procurement Act, 2003.

Interested bidders can access tender documents through the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (e-GP) portal or from the NSA's office at 19 Starlet 91 Road, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily.

To participate, bidders must pay a non-refundable fee of GHS 200 through the Government Electronic Payment Portal. Submissions must be made electronically via the e-GP portal by 6 January 2025 at 10:30 AM.

All tenders must remain valid for 120 days after submission and be accompanied by a tender security of 2% of the bid amount. Late submissions will not be accepted.

The NSA emphasised the importance of this project in aligning Ghana’s football infrastructure with global standards.

"This effort will not only improve player performance but also enhance the reputation of our facilities, making them more attractive for international tournaments and events."
