LA Galaxy and Black Stars forward Joseph Paintsil has expressed satisfaction with playing in Major League Soccer, describing his debut season as “amazing.”
The 26-year-old joined the American outfit on a four-year deal after ending his stay with Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk.
Since joining, Painstil has helped the LA Galaxy end their 10-year wait to win the Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup again.
“It’s been such an amazing season for me, especially as a first-timer in MLS. It’s not as easy as people think,” he said after the “Joseph Painstil All-Star Match” held at Apenkwa Park in Achimota.
“People say it’s a retirement league, but trust me, a lot of Europeans can go there and flop in the first season. So it’s not a league that should be taken for granted.
“It’s a league that is really serious about making an impact in the world. You have the likes of Messi, a whole lot of players, Busquets, [Olivier] Giroud, Marco [Reus], and Riqui [Puig].
“You have a lot of players there, and it’s interesting now to play there. It’s also fantastic to represent yourself as a Ghanaian in the MLS.
“I would [return to Europe] if there is an opportunity, but I need to always make the best decision for myself.”
