The Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, Nana Boadi Amponim Abodade III, says Samira Bawumia, the wife of NPP flagbearer, harboured significant disappointment following her husband’s loss to John Mahama in the presidential election.
In a recent interview, Nana Boadi claimed that Samira was deeply invested in her husband’s bid for the presidency, envisioning herself as a First Lady with a flair for style and public presence.
“Dr. Bawumia is not happy; he did his best and was desperate for the position,” Nana Boadi said.
“But somebody else was even more unhappy—Samira. She was so desperate for the position.”
Nana Boadi noted that Samira Bawumia played a highly visible role during the NPP campaign, often taking centre stage.
He attributed this to her desire to become First Lady and her ability to captivate the public with her fashion and charisma.
“You know, our good old Auntie Rebecca [Akufo-Addo], she was not that outgoing, and so Samira was mostly at the forefront. She longed to be the First Lady,” he said.
He added, “If the NPP had won, she would have slayed a lot. ‘She will slay aaah Ghanaian ladies all go bore die,’” he quipped, suggesting her style would have set trends and perhaps even drawn envy.
Nana Boadi implied that Samira’s visible disappointment reflected the broader mood within the Bawumia household after the election loss.
“She is very unhappy,” he stated.
