President Akufo-Addo's office is denying reports of a purported presidential pardon granted 11 individuals serving jail time.
The initial reports had suggested that the president exercised his prerogative of mercy to pardon eleven prisoners, in accordance with Article 72 (1) of the Constitution barely a day to end his tenure.
This, the document which has since gone viral claimed, followed a thorough review of their cases, with consideration given to their health, length of imprisonment, and other mitigating factors.
Key among the list are William Ato Essien, CEO of defunct Capital Bank, and Philip Assibit who was jailed for his role in the GYEEDA scandal.
But in a statement from the Jubilee House's Communications Directory, no pardon has been granted.
