The legitimacy of the contested parliamentary seats in Techiman South, Okaikwei Central and Tema Central, has been resolved, and their members have been confirmed as part of the 9th Parliament.
Before the inauguration, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) challenged the results in court, alleging irregularities in the Electoral Commission’s (EC) re-collation process.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, initially questioned the legitimacy of these seats, noting that the then MPs-elect would not be sworn in as members of the 9th Parliament.
However, during the inauguration on Monday, the members were officially sworn in after the EC declared final results.
In Techiman South, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah (NPP) secured 46,663 votes, defeating Christopher Beyere Baasongti (NDC) with 43,429 votes. Also, in Okaikwei Central: Patrick Boamah (NPP) was declared the winner.
Additionally, in Tema Central, Charles Forson (NPP) won by a narrow margin of 18,870 votes, defeating Ebi Bright (NDC), who garnered 18,815 votes.
Meanwhile, the Ablekuma North constituency remains outstanding as re-collation resumes today.
