President John Mahama has delivered a strong message to prospective appointees, underscoring the need for unwavering adherence to ethical and professional standards in public office.
Addressing the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), on Sunday, 12 January 2025, the President reminded Ghanaians that public service is a demanding responsibility, not an avenue for complacency.
“Those appointed to public office must understand that they will be held accountable to the highest ethical and professional benchmarks,” President Mahama stated.
“If you are among those submitting CVs, be aware that this will not be an easy task. It certainly won’t be business as usual.”
He emphasised the critical role of integrity and accountability in governance, pointing out that public officials are custodians of the nation’s resources and trust.
According to him, appointees must focus on delivering outcomes that serve the collective interests of Ghanaians.
“We are stewards of the resources and trust granted to us by the sovereign people of Ghana,” President Mahama said.
“Our administration will prioritise good governance and uphold the principles that foster national progress and public trust.”
