The Gwira Traditional Council in the Western region has issued a disclaimer rejecting the purported coronation of a new Paramount Chief.
In a January 12, 2025 statement issued and signed by Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan II, the known Paramount Chief and President of the Gwira Traditional Council, he said “Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan II, the Paramount Chief and the President of the Gwira Traditional Council, remains the sole custodian of the Gwira stool and the legitimate leader of the Gwira Traditional. Area. Any attempt to usurp his authority or create confusion will not be tolerated”.

It said, “The claim that a new Paramount Chief has been enstooled is completely false. The Gwira Traditional Area remains under the legitimate leadership of the duly recognized Paramount Chief Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan II who continues to serve in accordance with custom, tradition, and law.
