Principal of St. Vincent College of Education, Dr. Jonas Kwabla Fiadzawoo has resigned from his position, effective January 16, 2025.
He cited concerns over a lack of support from the college community.
In a resignation letter addressed to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Dr. Fiadzawoo stated that recent developments at the college suggested his leadership did not align with the aspirations of the college community.
He emphasised the need to respect the views of the community for the institution's progress and proposed that the Vice Principal act in the interim until a new principal is appointed.

The resignation comes just days after a reported incident on January 13, 2025, when representatives claiming to act on behalf of the King of Dagbon demanded the closure of the college.
According to a summary report, the group insisted that the college adhere to the King’s recommendation for the principal position.

Staff were allegedly warned not to return to campus until the directive was obeyed, with threats issued to those who might resist.
Dr. Fiadzawoo submitted a report on the incident to GTEC on January 14, 2025, detailing the disruptions caused by the delegation’s demands.
The report outlined the events leading to staff vacating the campus under duress, highlighting the volatile atmosphere surrounding the college’s leadership.
