Parliament has approved the third batch of ministers nominated by President John Mahama following their vetting by the Appointments Committee.
The approval follows the Committee’s recommendation of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Banda, Ahmed Ibrahim; MP for Krowor, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, and the Techiman North MP, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare for ministerial positions.
Parliament debated the motion for the approval of the nominees on Thursday, January 23.
The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, presided over the session as the House debated the approval of the nominees.
After hours of extensive deliberation, both the Majority and Minority caucuses acknowledged that the three ministerial nominees have the ability to lead their respective ministries.
The Second Deputy Speaker subsequently confirmed the appointments.
Ahmed Ibrahim was approved as the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey as the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare as Minister for Trade, Industry and Agribusiness.
