Parliament has approved the fourth batch of ministerial nominees put forward by President John Mahama, following their vetting and approval by the Appointments Committee.
The approved nominees include the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu South; Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the MP for Shama; Emelia Arthur, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Youth Organizer, George Opare Addo.
Their appointments were debated and approved by Parliament on Thursday, January 23.
The session presided over by the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, saw extensive deliberations on the suitability of the nominees.
After hours of discussion, both the Majority and Minority caucuses reached a consensus, agreeing that the nominees demonstrated the competence and leadership skills required to head their respective ministries.
Following the debate, the Second Deputy Speaker confirmed the appointments.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie was approved as the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Emelia Arthur as the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and George Opare Addo as the Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment.
This latest approval marks a key step in President Mahama’s efforts to complete the formation of his ministerial team.
