The North East Regional Minister nominee, Ibrahim Tia, has pledged to work closely with security forces to curb the increasing cases of armed robbery in the region.
Addressing concerns during his vetting on Monday, January 27, he acknowledged the alarming rate of criminal activities and assured residents of intensified security measures.
"True, armed robbery has been so rampant in the region, and I will collaborate with the security forces to see how we can combat it," he stated on January 27.
He further highlighted the importance of increasing police presence along critical routes prone to robbery attacks.
According to him, enhancing the visibility of security personnel would serve as a deterrent.
He added, "The reality of the matter is that in some areas, anytime armed robbers are arrested, Fulanis are often involved. I believe we need to engage their leaders to encourage cooperation and find ways to reduce these incidents," he noted.
