Ghana’s minister designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, says the Black Star absence from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations ‘does not speak well’ of the country.
The team led by Otto Addo failed to make it to the tournament to be staged in Morocco after finishing bottom of their qualifying group.
It’s also the first time Ghana is missing out on the tournament for the first time in 20 years.
Speaking on the team’s failure to qualify, Adams said on Sporty FM, "It doesn't speak well that the African continent will meet for a football competition and Ghana isn't there.”
The minister-designate also stated his quest to ensure the Black Stars does not miss out on the next major tournament.
"The next competition that we don't want to miss is the World Cup but this wish should not lead to a decision that will not help us," he added.
Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume in March when they play Chad and Madagascar.
