President John Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to organize the National Education Forum, fulfilling his commitment to reform Ghana’s education sector.
The committee, chaired by Professor George K. T. Oduro, a former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, has been given two weeks to submit a comprehensive plan for the forum.
The committee includes Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Dr. Samuel Awuku, and Professor Smile Dzisi, as well as Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.

Their task is to develop a detailed strategy for engaging key stakeholders in the education sector and shaping a new policy framework for national education.
The committee’s responsibilities include developing a theme and sub-themes to guide discussions and identifying key stakeholders such as students, parents, teachers, researchers, civil society organizations, development partners, religious groups, political parties, chiefs, and educational institutions. They are also expected to propose a venue and dates for the forum, establish a budget, and create a stakeholder engagement agenda featuring thematic breakout sessions and plenaries.
Additionally, the committee will set up a secretariat to document activities, compile a comprehensive report detailing key findings and recommendations, and draft a national education policy framework. Within three weeks after the forum, they are to propose an action plan for implementing the recommendations.
The National Education Forum is expected to bring together a diverse group of education experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss challenges and propose reforms to improve Ghana’s education system.
