Residents in the Ho Municipality and its surrounding areas would have to endure another 36 hours without a supply of water from the Ghana Water Limited (GWL).
This follows the inability of the engineers to repair the water supply system as scheduled and communicated by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, - that supplies would be restored today Saturday, 8th February 2025.
The Volta Region Secretariat of the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) communicated that there would be delays in restoring the supply of water after embarking on a site visit with Mr. Gunu and other stakeholders.
“The GWL team is working diligently to complete the necessary works and anticipates resuming production within the next 36 hours, God willing”, stated a communique posted on the Commission’s official WhatsApp platform it shares with journalists.
It therefore assured that GWL is working to complete repair works and restore supply within the stipulated timeframe.
“Consumers are therefore entreated to bear with the Company as it is doing everything possible to restore supply. PURC will ensure the timely completion of work. Thank you”, it concluded.
Background
The pump head at the Kpeve workstation had suffered periodic breakdowns since the start of 2025, plunging some areas in the Ho West, South Dayi, and the entire Ho Municipality into a water crisis.
The frequent breakdowns coupled with the high demands have rendered the GWL incapacitated, leading to clients suffering great financial burdens as they have to spend extra to get water from private operators.

Mr. Gunu in a series of media interviews assured of the government commitment to ending the water crisis and disclosed that about $52 million is needed to inject into the expansion of the water treatment and supply system at Kpeve. This is expected to end the perennial water crisis experienced by clients.
