The Minority in Parliament has formally requested the removal of Emmanuel Bedzrah as Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee investigating recent disruptions during a sitting of the Appointments Committee.
In a memorandum to the Speaker of Parliament dated 10th February 2025, the Minority expressed concerns about Emmanuel Bedzrah’s continued chairmanship, citing issues of bias and impartiality.
The memorandum stated, “The Minority Caucus considers it prudent to await the Speaker’s response before participating in the Committee’s work.”
It emphasised that this move should not be seen as a reluctance to engage with the Committee but as a necessary measure to ensure fairness and credibility in the proceedings.
The Minority expressed hope that the Speaker would address these concerns to uphold the integrity of the Committee’s work and the broader interests of Parliament.
Meanwhile, the Minority leader Afenyo-Markin and his colleagues are expected to appear before the committee today, Monday, February 10.
On the Majority side, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, and Collins Dauda are among those expected to participate in today's hearing.
Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has already dismissed the claims of bias, saying the allegations are unfounded.
