The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, says plans are progressing well ahead of the resumption of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
The top-flight competition was suspended indefinitely by the GFA to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Frimpong Pooley.
The Kotoko fan was fatally stabbed during their Week 19 encounter against Nsoatreman at the Nana Koromansah II Park.
"We are going progressively and as fast as we can," Prosper said in an interview with Asempa FM.
We are moving together and we want to bring everybody along. We will make that engagement and announce a date for the resumption of the league.
"We will plead with the supporters to be patient, [announcement] will be done soon.
"Matches will not come off this weekend but we are moving as fast as we can.
Meanwhile, the GFA has approved newly enhanced matchday safety and security protocols for various football competitions to curb hooliganism.
The measures include appointing Club Safety and Security Officers and installing CCTV cameras at match venues.
Clubs that fail to comply or cooperate with the protocols will face sanctions, including a GH₵20,000 fine and a venue ban.
