Former Deputy Education Minister, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is sustaining the National Standardised Test (NST) rather than introducing it as a new initiative.
He made this assertion in a Twitter post on Tuesday, February 18, emphasising that the test was first introduced and implemented under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
According to Rev. Fordjour, the NST for Basic 2, 4, and 6 was initially conducted in 2021, followed by subsequent editions in 2023 and 2024.

He insisted that the NDC should acknowledge the origins of the initiative rather than present it as their own.
“NST for Basic 2, 4 & 6 was first introduced and implemented by NPP and conducted in 2021, 2023, and 2024. It’s not a novel initiative by NDC,” he stated.
While commending the NDC for sustaining the programme, Rev. Fordjour urged them to be transparent about its history.
“NDC should be honest to admit NST is not their novel initiative. It’s worthy to consider sustaining a brilliant initiative to consolidate gains made in learning outcomes, but it’s noble also to give credit where it’s due,” he added.
