The newly elected leadership of the National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) has taken a significant step towards transforming healthcare education and student welfare by engaging with the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The meeting, which took place ahead of NAHSAG’s official swearing-in ceremony, highlighted the association's commitment to strengthening ties with the Ministry to drive impactful policies for health students and young professionals.
Led by the NAHSAG President, the delegation expressed gratitude for the Minister’s continued support while addressing key challenges faced by health students, including limited practical training opportunities, financial constraints, and concerns regarding post-graduation employment.
They called for a structured dialogue between NAHSAG and the Ministry to ensure student voices are incorporated into healthcare policy decisions.
Hon. Mintah Akandoh welcomed the engagement and commended NAHSAG for its proactive approach. He reassured the executives of the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate, particularly on policies aimed at enhancing healthcare training, student welfare, and career development.
He also encouraged the young leaders to champion professionalism, innovation, and ethical healthcare practices as they prepare to enter the workforce.
This engagement sets the foundation for a more dynamic partnership between NAHSAG and the Ministry of Health, with a shared vision to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system through youth inclusion and advocacy.
As NAHSAG prepares for its swearing-in ceremony, its leadership has made clear its intention to be a strong voice in shaping the future of healthcare education and professional development in Ghana.
