A 26-year-old man, Yakubu Mohammed Habib, has been shot and killed in Fou in the Sagnarigu Municipality after a dispute between his brother, Mustapha Muktadel, and a neighbor, Baba Habib.
The incident occurred on February 25-26, 2025 in the Northern Regional town.
According to community members, Baba Habib and his friends assaulted Mustapha Muktadel on February 25 at around 9:00 p.m.
Later that night, Baba Habib called Yakubu Ibrahim, the victim's brother, and asked to meet him, but Yakubu declined.
According to the people at around 12:30 a.m. on February 26, Baba Habib returned with a group of about 20 people, leading to some confrontation.
In the process one of the people whose name is not known yet ran to a Mitsubishi Pajero vehicle for a pump action gun and began firing some shots shooting Yakubu Mohammed Habib.
The eyewitnesses said the victim was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) but died from his injuries at around 4:30 a.m.
JoyNews gathers police have arrested two suspects, Baba Habib and Alhassan Fuseini, and are investigating the incident. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the TTH Morgue pending autopsy.
