The Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), Dr Saajida Shiraz, has announced that her office has approved the disbursement of student loans to a total of 9,433 applicants across the country.
In a Facebook post on Friday, February 28, Dr Shiraz revealed that the loan was granted after she held a meeting with student leadership and the Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu.

She stated that the students are from 62 public and private tertiary institutions across Ghana.
“Earlier today, I approved the disbursement of student loans to 9,433 students across 62 public and private tertiary institutions in Ghana,” Dr Shiraz wrote.
Although the students had applied for the loan some time ago, Dr Shiraz explained that approval had been delayed until recently.

She expressed her apologies for the delay in the disbursement process, adding, “I apologise for the late disbursements and promise that under my leadership, the SLTF will be more intentional about ensuring timely disbursements to fulfil our mission of providing prompt financial services to eligible Ghanaian tertiary students.”
Dr Shiraz also reiterated her commitment to realising President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of an improved tertiary education financing scheme.
She revealed that steps are being taken to ensure the smooth implementation of the SLTF Plus policy.
