Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has taken to social media to clarify recent misconceptions regarding the funding and purpose of the Hajj Village project.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Mr Kwakye Ofosu explained that the Hajj Village is not funded by taxpayer money, as some have speculated.
According to the post, the Hajj Village is primarily an airport terminal building designed to facilitate the check-in and processing of pilgrims embarking on the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
The facility is owned and being developed by the Ghana Airport Company (GACL), with no taxpayer funds being allocated to the project.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu emphasised that, "Not a pesewa of taxpayer's money involved," asserting that the project is being financed through the resources of the Ghana Airport Company and is aimed at improving the pilgrimage experience for Ghanaian Muslims traveling to Mecca.
President John Dramani Mahama officially inaugurated the construction of a new Hajj Village on Sunday, March 2, a significant project designed to enhance facilities for Ghanaian pilgrims traveling to Mecca for the annual Islamic pilgrimage.
