Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Nelson Rockson Dafeamekpor, says Parliament and other arms of government cannot cease functioning due to the country's financial challenges.
His comment is in response to the minority's decision to boycott a three-day orientation for Members of Parliament in the Volta regional capital, Ho.
According to the minority, the boycott was in protest of the costs involved in the programme.

Speaking on the JoyNews AM Show on Monday, 3rd March, Mr Dafeamekpor condemned the minority's action, arguing that Parliament must continue its work, regardless of the country's economic situation.
"The country is broke, so Parliament cannot work? The judiciary cannot work? The executive cannot work? Is that the agreement we had? Listen, this is Parliament conducting its normal business," he said when Sweety Aboachie asked about the country's high debt levels and whether the minority might have a point in some cases.
A minority Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vicent Ekow Assafua, disagreed with Mr Dafeamekpor, stating that the NDC MP had misunderstood the issue.
He argued that the Speaker of the House, Alban Bagbin, was behind the decision to hold the orientation in Ho for personal reasons, calling it politically biased.
Mr Dafeamekpor insisted that there was nothing wrong with holding the event in Ho and clarified that the Speaker was not responsible for the decision to hold it there. He explained that it was a decision made by the Clerk of Parliament.
