Dr Ishmael Yamson, Chairman of the seven-member team for the National Economic Dialogue, has expressed confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s ability to lead Ghana’s economic transformation.
Speaking at the commencement of the dialogue on Monday, 3rd March 2025, he stated that President Mahama has been divinely endowed with the wisdom needed to reset the country for the benefit of both present and future generations.
Emphasising the critical role of leadership in national development, Dr Yamson noted that economic transformation across the world has often been driven by a single visionary leader.
He urged President Mahama to embrace this responsibility, asserting that the success of Ghana’s economic recovery depends on his leadership.
"Someone has to reset the country, and it can only be you," Dr Yamson declared. "Everywhere in the world that economic transformation has taken place, only one individual has led the charge, and the Lord has blessed you with the wisdom to take on that task."
His remarks underscored the weight of expectation placed on President Mahama to spearhead meaningful change.
The National Economic Dialogue, themed "Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together," brings together policymakers, economists, and industry leaders to discuss strategies for economic recovery.
Dr Yamson’s remarks set the tone for the deliberations, reinforcing the belief that strong leadership and strategic reforms are key to revitalising Ghana’s economy.
