Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that members of the newly formed Black Stars Management Committee are not receiving any financial reward for their roles.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) dissolved the previous committee led by Mark Addo after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.
A new management committee team was assembled ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Dr. Randy Abbey was appointed as the new chairman, with former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah serving as Vice Chairman and overseeing player relations.
Matchday activities and operations will be handled by Samuel Aboabire ( chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association) and Moses Armah (owner of Medeama SC), while Richard Nsenkyire takes charge of special duties related to the team.
Minister Adams, speaking to Asempa FM, made it clear that the government is not paying them, but he hinted that a reward could be considered if Ghana qualifies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"Black Stars Management Committee members are not being paid for now, but if we qualify for the World Cup, then the government will make a decision on what they must be given as a reward," he said.
He further clarified that the only support provided by the government is covering their accommodation and meals.
"The only thing the government took care of was their food and where they would sleep. For now, they are all doing a sacrificial job for the team," he added.
