Former Minister for Railways Development, John Peter Amewu, has been released following his arrest by National Security operatives on Tuesday, 25th March 2025.
Amewu was reportedly detained for questioning in connection with the $2 million failed Sky Train Project.
His arrest is part of ongoing investigations into the botched initiative, according to Accra-based Citi FM.
The Sky Train project, which had allegedly received $2 million in funding, was found to have failed to achieve its intended objectives, as confirmed by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, in a press briefing on Monday, 24th March.
Dr Ayine further revealed that prosecutions related to the Sky Train scandal are set to begin by mid-April 2025.
He revealed that investigations have revealed that the company that reportedly received the amount in Mauritius was non-existent.

He assured the public that suspects are cooperating with investigators and that efforts to recover misappropriated public funds are underway, with justice to be served.
