President John Mahama visited Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja on a one-day working visit to discuss regional developments and diplomatic efforts within West Africa.

The visit was part of President Mahama’s ongoing engagements on regional matters, particularly concerning the recent developments within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State, President Tinubu received a briefing from President Mahama on his recent meetings with the leaders of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.
The three Sahelian nations have formally exited ECOWAS to form the Alliance of Sahel States, a move that has raised diplomatic and security concerns across the region.

President Mahama’s discussions with the Nigerian President centered on efforts to address the implications of this withdrawal and explore potential diplomatic solutions.
