The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has completed the renovation of its dialysis centre in line with a commitment to improving services to patients with kidney failure.
Chief executive officer Prof Otchere Addai-Mensah says the hospital invested GH¢436,462.68 of its internally generated funds and other partners’ funding in the renovation project.
The number of dialysis machines has also increased from 2 to 20 to meet the growing demand for dialysis treatment.

Prof Addai-Mensah spoke at the Hospital's 2024 end-of-year performance review conference held on the theme: “Seven Decades of Impacting Lives through Specialist Clinical Services, Training and Research”.
The hospital’s daily OPD attendance rose from 1,259 in 2023 to 1,302 in 2024. Emergency admissions also rose from 26,298 to 27,996, indicating a 6.5 percent increase.
The CEO highlighted the ‘Heal Komfo Anokye Project’ as one of the successes chalked over the period.
"The year under review witnessed the stunning transformation of Wards A3, 4 & 5 under the first phase of the Asantehene’s Heal Komfo Anokye project (HeKAP).

Prof Addai-Mensah acknowledged the intervention of Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II in the drive to transform the dilapidated old "Gee" blocks at the hospital into a modern inpatient facility.
He also commended the two lead sponsors of the project, the CEOs of Justmoh Construction and Joshob Construction, for their commitment to the project.
He entreated the public and corporate Ghana to continue making the donations to ensure the successful completion of the project.
