A man has appeared in court in the Republic of Ireland charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to a man who later died in his home in Killybegs, County Donegal, last weekend.
The body of Eddie Friel, who was in his 60s, was found in his home in the Harbour View Drive estate on Sunday afternoon.
James Spendley, 57, of St Cummin's Hill, Killybegs, was brought before Carrick-on-Shannon District Court, County Leitrim, on Tuesday, Irish broadcaster RTÉ reported.
The judge remanded him in custody to appear before Sligo District Court by video link on Wednesday.

A detective garda (Irish police), of Ballyshannon garda station, told the court that he arrested Mr Spendley at 04:08 local time on Monday.
He formally charged Mr Spendley at 4.47 under Section 4 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
The court was told Mr Spendley made no reply after caution.
There was no application for bail and free legal aid was granted.
