The Asante Mampong Traditional Council has imposed a ban on all public processions, funerals, and noise-making activities ahead of the one-week observation of the late Asante Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
The one-week observation is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 12, 2025, and the ban will remain in force until the final funeral rites are completed, expected to be within a month.
This decision follows arrangements made by the Funeral Committee, chaired by the Adontenhene of the Traditional Council and Chief of Ejura, Barimah Osei Hwedie II.
He has urged the public to respect the arrangements made by the traditional council.
The date for the main funeral arrangements will be announced pending a meeting with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
He commended the Queen Mother for the Asante Mampong Traditional Council, Nana Agyakomaa Difie II, and other council members for their guidance and support in the planning process.
He assured the public of maximum security, adding that the committee has met with the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) in the four municipalities within the traditional area.
Each of the four municipalities will provide security personnel for both the one-week observation and the final funeral rites.
The Adontenhene urged the public to come out in their numbers as a show of appreciation to the late chief for his dedication to the development of Asanteman and Ghana.
