The National Sports Authority (NSA) has successfully regained control of the Kaladan Park and its surrounding lands in Tamale after a prolonged legal dispute.
The reclaimed parcel, equivalent to the size of five football fields, represents a significant milestone in the Authority’s broader efforts to revitalise sports infrastructure across the country.
The announcement comes following a recent working visit by newly appointed NSA Director General, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, to the Northern Regional capital.
During his engagement with management and staff at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Mr Ankrah assessed the current state of facilities and discussed future development plans.

While acknowledging the deteriorating condition of some existing infrastructure, the Director General expressed optimism about the renewed prospects for investment and development at Kaladan Park—historically known as the home ground of Real Tamale United.
Chief Director of the NSA, Alhaji Abubakar Mahamoud, who was part of the delegation, confirmed the Authority’s legal success in reclaiming the park and securing surrounding lands that had previously been encroached upon.
The NSA has indicated that once documentation is finalised, it will initiate engagement with potential investors to support redevelopment efforts in the area.
This development aligns with the Authority’s stated objective of implementing strategic reforms and infrastructure upgrades as part of its ongoing RESET agenda for sports development in Ghana.
